Editorial FAQs

Who owns Crux, and how is it funded?

Crux is independently owned by its staff and is 100% reader-supported. We are not backed by the Vatican, a diocese, or any outside institution. This model ensures our long-term editorial independence.

Who is in charge of editorial decisions?

Editorial decisions are led by our Editor-in-Chief, who works closely with our Managing Editor and a team of experienced reporters. Our newsroom operates independently of any outside influence.

What is Crux’s editorial mission?

Crux is dedicated to delivering independent, nonpartisan Catholic news and analysis, with a global perspective and a commitment to accuracy, fairness, and depth.

Do you have a political or theological agenda?

No. Crux does not advocate for a political or ideological position. Our goal is to report accurately and fairly on the Catholic Church and related issues, allowing readers to draw their own conclusions.

Do donors, subscribers, or advertisers influence coverage?

No. Financial support—whether through subscriptions, donations, or advertising—does not influence editorial decisions. Advertising and sponsorships, where applicable, are clearly separated from editorial content.

How do you decide what to cover?

Coverage is determined by our editorial leadership based on news value, global relevance, and importance to the life of the Church.

How do you handle corrections or errors?

Crux is committed to accuracy. If we make an error, we correct it promptly and transparently. Readers are encouraged to contact us with any concerns.

Where is Crux based?

Crux operates as a global digital newsroom, with reporters and editors based in the United States, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Cameroon, Brazil, India, Bangladesh, and the Philippines.

Do you accept articles from freelancers?

At this time, we do not accept freelance submissions. Please check back, as we may add stringers in the future. We also encourage you to follow us on LinkedIn, where we will post any job opportunities or openings.
