Why has Crux introduced a subscription model?

Crux is now 100% reader-supported. We are not backed by a diocese, organization, or billionaire. Subscriptions allow us to remain independent and continue producing high-quality Catholic news and analysis without institutional funding.


Why should I subscribe instead of just reading for free?

What do I get with a paid subscription?

Full access to all premium articles, in-depth reporting, analysis, and special features—while directly supporting independent Catholic journalism.


Can I still read Crux for free?

Yes. You can register for a free account here: https://cruxnow.com/account. Registered users can read up to three premium articles per month, and most of our content remains free.


How much does a subscription cost?

$12 per month or $125 per year.


I am a donor—do I get free access?

Yes. As a thank-you, existing donors receive one year of full premium access. We have transferred most donor accounts to our new system, but if you are unable to access all premium content, please email subs@cruxnow.com and we will ensure your access is activated.


I was a one-time donor—do I still get access?

Yes. If you donated within the past 12 months, you are eligible for one year of premium access. If your account was not updated during the transition, please contact subs@cruxnow.com and we will take care of it.


I’m on a fixed income or can’t afford a subscription—what should I do?

Please email subs@cruxnow.com and let us know. If you are unable to afford a subscription but would like full access, we are happy to provide it.


How do I log in or access my account?

Visit the sign-in page and use your email. You can log in with a password or request a one-time “magic link” sent to your email.


I can’t log in—what should I do?

If you are unable to log in, you may not yet be registered in our new system. Please create an account here: https://cruxnow.com/account/register. If you are still having trouble, email subs@cruxnow.com and we will help you get set up.


I’m not receiving the login email—what should I do?

Please check your spam or junk folder. If you still do not see it, contact us and we will assist you.


Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. You may cancel at any time, and your access will continue through the end of your billing period.


How do I update my payment details?

You can securely update your payment information through your account settings or via the link in your subscription confirmation email. We use the secure payment system Stripe, which may send you a one-time login link or a confirmation text to access your billing details.


How do I change which newsletters I receive?

Log in to your account, click “My Account,” then select “Newsletters” to update your preferences. You can also use the “unsubscribe” or “manage preferences” link at the bottom of any Crux email.
